(Location: Peenemünde, Usedom, the north-eastern part of Germany)
Whereas Peenemünde first was only a place where the Nazis' army was positioned for developing different military tactics, the place became Europe’s biggest military research centre during 1936-45. Up to 12,000 people and forced labourers worked on an area of 25 km² to develop new weapon systems, such as the V-2 rockets and other military objects.
It was exactly this rocket that was the first ever human-made rocket to enter space.Today, there is a museum in Peenemünde that deals exactly with this time span and also gives insight about the technology that was used in those days.

In this camp, the volunteers will work on the meadows of Peenemünde, where bunkers stored the mass-produced V2-rockets. The blown up ruins are supposed to be cut free from plants and other objects that are in the way, so that visitors can see and enter the landmark.
